A road bump.

I've been getting sick for about two weeks. At first I thought it was laziness (I've been working and sleeping. This is my life), but it turns out to be a massive sinus infection and the beginnings of pneumonia. Hopefully I'll be better in a few days and the little progress I've made won't be for naught.

Overcoming myself, overcoming myself...

Right when I'm losing confidence a day happens that I realize I've made progress.

1. I was able to climb bars I wasn't able to a few weeks ago.
2. Mowing the lawn didn't exhaust me like it did last year.
3. A bra that was previously too small now is good for jumping and climbing in.

We haven't been jogging, but Mouse showed me some exercises from his endurance training. They're simple enough that I can be sitting, and they work without weights. For someone as weak as I am and, who has been working nearly full-time, this is perfect.

Today Dove and I went to a skate park and scaled the ramps and half-pipes, climbing up the backs and running down them. The bars there for grinding were perfect to hop over; I've been jumping over short things to learn keeping my ankles together and my knees up (In the non-sexual way, please). I still haven't overcome my fear of falling and landing. At the very least, I try not to complain when Dove and Mouse challenge me.

Dove hurt his ankle while leaping over things in Downtown. It's a minor pulled muscle that he's been keeping off of, nothing major, but at least we found some things to climb on.

Day Three and an Intro

We've decided that we want to Parkour, the act of free-running, a French concept, dedicated to being able to survive using the strength of the body.

I am Owl: 5'4, female, 195lbs.

My comrades are Dove: 6', male, 240lbs, and Mouse: 5'9, male, 140lbs.

Mouse is in the military and in much better shape than myself and Dove. Dove is in much better shape than me.

We've started with some basics; Jumping over fences, falling, rolling. Running will soon be added to the list and today we will be working on arms.

I don't know why Dove and Mouse want to Parkour. As for me, I want to better myself. I'm overweight, weaker than I've ever been, I've never finished any project. I think with my friends' support and encouragement I'll get over the month-hump I seem to have when starting long-term projects.

It's been frustrating though, because I work longer hours and they don't. They simply have more time than I do. Let it be known, I'm easily discouraged.

But the beginning of summer has been beautiful and warm, and my sore ass muscles are indication that what we've been doing has been working.

I need to overcome my newly discovered fear of jumping from more than two-feet. I couldn't jump a three-foot post out of fear today. I will do it tomorrow, as we were also short on time today to get over my girly reactions to making jumps. Parkour is about overcoming yourself. I think this is something I would do well to achieve.
